![]() Every evening, our sky fills with thousands of bats. |
![]() If you ever thought they were cute, you are sorely mistaken. They are amazing, awesome, creatures, but cute they are Not. And they are loud. |
![]() The tree next door looks filled with golden fruit. |
![]() On closer inspection, it's filled with golden colored bats. Apparently not fruit bats since they completely ignored the two mango trees right next door. |

We were playing soccer when a *whump* in a tree in our yard forced a
temporary break. I guess their eyesight isn't as good as we thought. <- The one that hit our tree. Yes, it's eyes are red. |
"Moving In" Day aka HHE!

| What else is there to say about the arrival of HHE
(household effects) except that we were quite comfortable in the house as it
was and now we're overloaded with... STUFF. Sure, it feels more like
-our- home now, but goodness, there's no room! That's not entirely
true of course, but it'll take a few weeks to get through the last 1/2 dozen
boxes of "WHY do we have this?" and "I don't want to throw this away but
where am I going to put it?". Clockwise from top: In the living room we have a single flat wall so it has everything leaning against it; the master bedroom with our mosquito netting; Jonathon plays with the toybox toys by the curved living room wall; the boys' bedroom; the boxes as they made their way from the living room to outside. |

Morning Meeting
![]() Every school morning, all the students and faculty gather from 7:30 to 8 a.m. for Morning Meeting announcements, birthdays and whatever else the Director wants to talk about. Each week a class presents to the group. Last week was Art, and one morning the preschoolers showed how they made snails and airplanes out of clay. |
![]() Also during Art week, the K-2 class made animals and faces using numbers and letters. Rebecca demonstrated drawing a pig using M, W, E and e. |
![]()
Last month, the K-2 class presented stories they wrote in class. I was lucky enough to be there the day Rebecca presented her story based on the Brown Bear, Brown Bear book. |
![]() Katherine's class has also presented but theirs was a play so I have video but no photos. Recently the highschoolers did debates. One day the question was whether video games were good or bad. The floor was opened to the rest of the school and Katherine spoke in favor of video games as helpful to those learning English. I missed it, but the reports state she was well-spoken. |

The last week of November was French at morning meeting. Jonathon did a bunch of parts of the body in French. |
![]() For Thanksgiving, the K/1/2 class read poetry and sang a song. |
Thanksgiving
![]()
Thanksgiving was at the Marine House with about 20 other Embassy and Peace Corps personnel. The kids had a blast with hours of foosball. And there was obviously way more food than humanly possible to consume. But we made a good dent! |
